Do I need to do any preparations before the installation?

To achieve a smooth and quick installation it is preferred to have the room cleared of the furniture and have your curtains removed. We advise you to call Arta floor prior to your installation and explain your situation, in most cases we can help you with the furniture removal and clearing the site.

Is it best to keep my skirting or have it removed during installation?

In general, there are two ways of finishing the edges of the walls, one is to keep the skirting in place during installation and use scotia as a finish. The other is to carefully remove all the skirting prior to laying new floors and run the boards hard against the walls. We advise you to discuss your options with our team prior to the installation. Depending on the style and structure of your project your options can vary.

Levelling, what should I know about it?

Before embarking on your timber flooring installation journey, it’s crucial to thoroughly understand the conditions of your subfloor. The subfloor serves as the foundation for your new flooring and can greatly impact the success and longevity of the installation.

Upon commencing the project, we will conduct a thorough assessment of the subfloor’s quality to determine its suitability for the installation of the new timber flooring. Often, existing floors may have experienced movements or the concrete slab may not be uniformly level, potentially affecting the seamless installation process.

If it is determined that modifications are required to prepare the subfloor adequately, we will promptly inform you in writing. Once we receive your approval, we will proceed with the necessary measures to ensure that the subfloor is optimally prepared for the subsequent installation of the timber flooring. Your satisfaction and the quality of our work are of paramount importance to us, and we are committed to providing you with the best possible foundation for your new flooring.

Engineered VS Solid Timber?

Wood flooring have always been a popular flooring choice due to its warmth and timeless character.

Hardwood floors are basically solid timber all the way through. They need to be treated, sanded and polished on site. As part of the installation process they need to be secret nailed and glued to the subfloor and a substantial level of preparation is required to the subfloor before the installation. One thing you need to be mindful about solid timber is the ongoing maintenance required to keep the look of the timber. You might need to have it all sanded and polished once every few years.

Engineered floorings are basically the latest technology in wood flooring industry which have a thin layer of actual timber veneered over layers of plywood. It allows the customer to pick any colour or type of the wood they desire; grain patterns are generally more consistent. They are designed to be more resistant to moisture and scratch and are more durable compare to solid timber. Installation process is also less complex and faster due to the click system that’s imbedded into the boards.
